National Geographic are a company with a long history of educating and inspiring people. Moving into an increasingly digital world, this project questioned how the company would keep up and what products they would deliver to maintain their brand. This resulted in Critters; a conceptual hand held device for children that promotes exploration, learning and communication.
Roaming through their local environment, a child looks through the screen at an insect. The device, using a form of optical feature recognition, detects the type of creature and unlocks it on their device. The user can customise, trade and battle with their unlocked Critters all while learning more about the natural world.
